In 2019, founder John McGhee became dissatisfied with commercially available hygiene products. From bright green "body wash" jugs to fancy soap sculptures, nothing seemed to meet his practical and discerning tastes. He spent years honing his craft and testing his soaps in the most demanding environments possible, from the deserts of California to the backwoods of Alabama and even while deployed on a US Navy warship.
Upon request, John began sharing his soap with friends and family and Micropothecary was born in 2024 in a small kitchen in Auburn, Alabama. He's kept it simple, local, and natural ever since.
